Career Consultation and Counseling
Career counselors work one-on-one with job seekers to provide individualized services and support with job searches, exploration or career development. Career counselors help to develop a career plan for each client based on a client's educational background, work history, career goals and barriers to employment.
If you are uncertain about the best career option, CDC can be invaluable in helping you investigate the various possibilities. CDC counselors evaluate individual interests, abilities, values, and preferences. To do so, we utilize comprehensive interviews and assessment tools such as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the Strong Inventory.
Job Search Assistance
CDC counselors offer a variety of tools services and support to assist you in your job search, including developing and revising resumes and cover letters, a series of free workshops covering all the major areas of a job search, access to job listings, skill tutorials and much more.
CDC has ongoing relationships and continues to develop new connections with area employers to help identify, solicit and receive employment opportunities. Job developers coach clients to assess appropriate job referrals and career counselors maintain contact with clients to monitor their progress. Client profiles are also available for employers to potentially match open positions with client interests and qualifications.
Career Relocation Services
Building a career in a new city can be very exciting and stressful. The Career Development Center (CDC) has experience working with area employers, understanding the regional workforce and helping people find employment in this region.
The CDC can work remotely with you on everything from sharing regional job market information to more comprehensive support services, including resume writing, career counseling and job search assistance.
In addition to its core services, the CDC has dedicated refugee and immigrant employment specialists who provide culturally-sensitive employment services.
The CDC's sister organization, The Welcome Center for Refugees, Immigrants and international can introduce newcomers to the diverse communities and additional support services the region offers.
